Market & Rates
Most new Roblox devs see '50k Robux' and think they're set, until they factor in Roblox's cut and current DevEx rates. Here's the real math.
Getting paid in Robux sounds great, until you do the math. Here's what nobody tells new Roblox developers: the number you see in your offer is not the number you take home.
The current Developer Exchange rate is $0.0038 USD per Robux (0.38 cents). This applies to Robux earned through game revenue, developer payments, or marketplace sales, not Robux you purchased.
Here's what common Robux amounts are actually worth in USD after DevEx, before taxes:
| Robux | USD (at $0.0038) |
|---|---|
| 10,000 R$ | $38.00 |
| 25,000 R$ | $95.00 |
| 50,000 R$ | $190.00 |
| 100,000 R$ | $380.00 |
| 250,000 R$ | $950.00 |
| 500,000 R$ | $1,900.00 |
| 1,000,000 R$ | $3,800.00 |
When someone hires you to build a game feature and pays you 50,000 R$, they likely funded that payment through Robux they earned in-game, after Roblox already took ~30% of their game revenue. You're receiving the remainder.
When you DevEx that 50,000 R$, you net $190 USD. Then, depending on your country, income tax takes another slice. US developers in a typical bracket might net ~$150 after federal tax.
So that "50k Robux" offer? It can realistically land at $150 in your pocket.
Many studios on RoHire now offer USD payments via PayPal or Wise. For significant projects, this is almost always the better deal.
You need at least 30,000 Earned Robux (not purchased Robux) to submit a DevEx request. Roblox Premium is not required; that requirement was removed in 2022. At the current rate, 30,000 R$ = $114 USD, so it's not worth chasing small payments in Robux just to cash them out.
