The scammer hired the victim for a commission. Both sides agreed on a 50% payment once 50% of the work is done. The victim sent consistent updates, and made adjustments that the scammer asked for. Eventually, the scammer asked the victim for the gamepass or payment method, but the scammer blocked them before the victim could send it.
