Looking for a skilled Roblox VFX artist to create a complete themed VFX suite for a stylized battlegrounds game (style references: "The Strongest Battlegrounds" and "Jujutsu Shenanigans" for combat, JJK and Demon Slayer for VFX style). The game features 20 unique themed weapons — each needs its own visual identity (fire, void, lightning, holy, blood, sand, etc.).
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Producing roughly 260 themed VFX prefabs across 20 weapons. Per weapon you'll deliver 13 VFX as drop-in Roblox Models or Parts containing ParticleEmitters, Beams, Trails, PointLights, and timing-cue placeholder Sounds:
- Weapon Trail (themed color, attaches to swing arc)
- M2 heavy attack VFX
- 4 base Skill VFX (cast + impact integrated)
- Awakening Intro VFX (burst + transformation)
- Awakening Aura (looping aura attached to body during awakening)
- 4 Awakened Skill VFX (replace base while powered up)
- Ultimate VFX (cinematic-tier finisher)
The game already has generic Hit, Dash, Block, and shockwave VFX wired in — you don't need to make those. Focus is purely on weapon-specific themed FX.
THE TEAM YOU'LL WORK WITH
Collaborating with an animator (handling all 360 animations) and an SFX designer, plus the dev (me). The animator will place "Cast" KeyframeMarkers on each skill animation — your VFX should be designed to spawn at those moments. I'll provide a per-weapon design doc covering theme, color palette, and intended skill behaviors.
SKILLS NEEDED
- Strong Roblox VFX portfolio (any genre, but combat preferred)
- Comfortable producing themed FX sets where prefabs feel cohesive within a weapon and distinct between weapons
- Performance-conscious: emitter limits, trail durations, no instance leaks
- Understands stylized > realistic visual language
- Range from JJK sharp inks to Demon Slayer flowing arcs
TIME EXPECTATION
Fast turnaround prioritized — please state your weekly capacity (VFX prefabs/week) when applying. Weapons delivered as cohesive 13-prefab kits per batch so I can review per-weapon.
WHAT'S EXPECTED OF YOU
- Engage with the JJK / Demon Slayer style references before submitting
- Theme readability: a player should ID the weapon by its FX in 1 second
- Performance budget per VFX: max ~80 active particles peak, auto-destroy after use
- Transparent host parts (no leaking geometry)
- Naming convention exactly as specified (e.g. "VoidKatana_Skill2_VFX", "PhoenixGreatSword_AwakeningAura")
- Awakening auras must be readable from 50 studs away
- Ultimate VFX should be screen-fillable
- 2 free revisions per VFX included
- Weekly check-ins via Discord
